Another Sept. 16th event held at the KarRC RAS within the International Academic Forum is the roundtable “On the Outstanding Contribution of I.V. Gorynin to the Development of Russian and World Science, Including the Creation of Unique Structural Materials and Technologies for the Development of the Arctic”. Its participants are scientists, government officials, representatives of businesses and business support institutions.

Igor Gorynin (1926–2015) was one of the world’s leading specialists in metal science. Thanks to his developments, unique materials were created that facilitated the construction of the entire modern Russian fleet, as well as offshore gas and oil rigs. The career of this outstanding metallurgist was linked to the Prometheus Central Research Institute of Structural Materials, which is now part of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Centre. The roundtable held at the KarRC RAS fulfills the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation “On Commemorating the Memory of I.V. Gorynin and Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of his Birth”.
