On October 23, 2026, the Head of the Republic of Karelia, Artur Parfenchikov, signed the Decree "On Awarding State Decorations of the Republic of Karelia". The decree was published on October 26, 2026 on the web portal for official publication of legal acts http://publication.pravo.gov.ru/document

"For particularly outstanding achievements and merits to the Republic of Karelia and its people in the advancement of basic and applied scientific research, and in the training and education of academia" – with this wording, the staff of the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences will be awarded the Sampo Order on the 80th year since the organization’s founding.
