The paper is a summary review of zooplankton in water-bodies and watercourses of the Lake Onego catchment based on the studies carried out within the inventory of biological resources of lakes of Karelia. It continues the work for systematization of currently available data that began earlier on water-bodies of the lake-river system of Shuja (225) – the lake's tributary with the second largest watershed (Kulikova, 2004). The review summarizes data on the plankton fauna of 220 water-bodies and watercourses of the catchment, providing the species checklist of the rotifer and crustacean community (over 460 taxa) in 158 lakes (incl. Lake Onego) and 44 rivers (incl. Shuja River).
The book would be of interest to hydrobiologists, zoologists, ichthyologists, ecologists. It is of practical value for monitoring purposes and fisheries research.
